Sports betting odds on Major League Soccer are on the board as Real Salt Lake tries to defend their title. The matches got underway last week as Seattle started things with a 2-0 sportsbetting win over expansion Philadelphia.
Sports betting will not favor Real Salt Lake to win the title in 2010. In fact, Real Salt Lake is not even the favorite to win the Western Conference. That role goes to Seattle who looks even better than they did a year ago when they made the playoffs as an expansion team. The Sounders added striker Blaise Nkufo to go along with Fredy Montero and Freddie Ljungberg. Kasey Keller is the goalie and Seattle is a force in the West.
The Los Angeles Galaxy won’t have David Beckham since he is out with an injury but it doesn’t matter. Landon Donovan leads the team anyway. The team got Clint Mathis from Real Salt Lake and he is a huge help. It should be noted in sports betting that Donovan will miss some time this season because he is on the United States World Cup team.
Real Salt Lake won the title last year in a huge sports betting surprise. They got Alvaro Saborio on loan from Swiss club Sion, but lost Yura Movsisyan and Chris Seitz. They still have Kyle Beckerman though and that makes them a threat in sports betting. Houston suffered some losses and probably won’t win the West but they could make the playoffs. Colorado needs to stay healthy while Chivas USA needs to play some defense. FC Dallas and Dallas probably don’t have enough offense.
The East looks to be all about Columbus. The Crew will look to rebound from a shocking loss to Real Salt Lake in the first round of the playoffs. Columbus is very capable of having a big year in MLS sports betting and winning the title with Barros Schelotto leading the way. Chicago lost the Eastern Conference Final on at home last year and it cost Denis Hamlett his job. Chicago made a number of other off-season changes so it will be interesting to follow the fire this season in sportsbetting. New York also made a lot of changes but they still rely upon Juan Pablo Angel to score. Toronto FC, New England, D.C. United, Kansas City and Philadelphia could all struggle to make the playoffs.
