Preakness Betting & Triple Crown Hopes

What are the chances of Super Saver winning in Preakness betting on Saturday and keeping Triple Crown hopes alive? The Preakness odds list Super Saver as the 5-2 morning line favorite but the horse is not an overwhelming favorite.

Preakness betting lists a number of horses at 10-1 or less for Saturday and that means anyone could win.  Super Saver is favored though and his trainer Todd Pletcher and his jockey Calvin Borel are confident.  Pletcher is the best trainer in the world right now and you can make an argument that Borel is the best rider in Triple Crown races.  Pletcher said that Super Saver is doing well in advance of Saturday’s race. “But he’s a pretty cool customer.” Pletcher said about Super Saver, “Some horses that might upset, but not in his case. He’s pretty laid back.”

Super Saver is the 5-2 favorite in Preakness betting and he will start from post position number eight.  Right on his inside will be Lookin at Lucky who is starting in post seven at odds of 3-1. Paddy O’Prado has morning line odds of 9-2 followed by Dublin and Caracortado at 10-1.

The question that bettors must answer is whether Super Saver is a true Triple Crown horse or just a horse that liked the mud and his trip in the Derby. Regardless, the horse has a chance to keep his Triple Crown hopes alive and Pletcher is thinking about it. “You really try not to get ahead of the race in front of you,” Pletcher said. “But obviously we know that if he wins the Preakness, then it’s a shot at immortality. You can’t think about the Belmont too much because he’s not there yet. But it’s certainly in the back of your mind a little bit, because he’s the only one that has a chance to do it this year.”

The field for the Preakness is smaller than the Derby and that should mean a good trip for everyone.  Normally in Preakness odds there are a couple of horses that everyone likes and then some longshots. This year there is a number of horses that have a realistic chance to win including Super Saver.

Here are all 12 horses and their morning line odds for Saturday’s 135th Preakness.
