Betting Preakness Lines at SBG Global

Preakness lines are available the third Saturday each May on horse racing’s middle race in the Triple Crown.
Preakness lines show a much shorter field than in the Kentucky Derby with Preakness betting lines almost always favoring the Kentucky Derby winner.

Preakness lines show that the Derby favorite usually does pretty well, winning over a third of the time. Preakness betting lines are different than Derby betting lines because the field is smaller and the race is shorter. The Preakness is run at a mile and 3/16th at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland. Preakness lines show a field that is usually between 8 and 12 horses.

Betting Preakness lines has to start with the Kentucky Derby winner. Regardless of whether you like the horse or not in Preakness lines you must begin your study of the Preakness field with that horse. Many times this horse will be the best one in the field, but not always. The 2005 Derby winner was a longshot named Giacomo and he was not the best horse in the Preakness and was not the Preakness lines favorite. Even in 2007 it was questionable whether or not Kentucky Derby winner Street Sense should e favored or third place Derby finisher Curlin. It turned out that Curlin won a tight finish in Preakness lines and went on to greatness, winning Horse of the Year honors.

History has shown that the winner in Preakness betting lines is a horse that raced in the Kentucky Derby. Oftentimes that horse was the Derby winner but not always. What has been clear in Preakness lines is that the winner at least started in the Derby. Pimlico is known for being more of a speed track than the Derby but that doesn’t mean other styles can’t win in Preakness betting lines. It does mean that tactical speed is necessary for a horse to stay close to the pace and have a chance to win versus Preakness lines.

Take a look at Preakness lines this May and examine the various choices you have for the second jewel in horse racing’s Triple Crown.
