2010 Preakness Odds and Post Positions

2010 Preakness odds list Kentucky Derby winner Super Saver as the 5-2 morning line favorite for Saturday’s race.A field of 12 will try for the second race in horse racing’s Triple Crown. Super Saver is not an overwhelming favorite in Preakness Stakes betting as Lookin at Lucky is close behind at 3-1.2010 Preakness odds list five horses at 10-1 or less. Super Saver is 5-2, Lookin at Lucky 3-1, Paddy O’Prado 9-2, while Caracortado and Dublin are 10-1. Super Saver will start from post position #8 as he tries to win the #1 million dollar Preakness on Saturday. He will not have to face a full field of horses as horses pulled out in the last week including Hurricane Ike who was withdraw on Wednesday morning. Hurricane Ike would have been the first ever starter for trainer John Sadler in the Preakness.

Last year in the Preakness there were 13 horses in the field. Rachel Alexandra was the Preakness Stakes betting winner a year ago as she beat Derby winner Mine That Bird. Two years ago it was a field of 12 as Big Brown won as the odds-on favorite. Last year it was jockey Calvin Borel riding Mine That Bird but the horse could not beat the filly Rachel Alexandra. This time Borel gets a chance with Super Saver. Lookin at Lucky, the second choice in 2010 Preakness odds will be ridden by Martin Garcia as Garrett Gomez moves to ride Dublin. Garcia does not have the reputation that Gomez has but he sure can’t do any worse than Gomez has in the last two races. “He just has that raw talent and he rides in California and he fits in there,” Lookin at Lucky trainer Bob Baffert said about Garcia. “I think the jockey colony is very strong in California, and he seems to be fitting in well. I think he’s got a huge future in this business. I’ve been using him. He works a lot of my horses. He’s worked Lookin at Lucky a lot.”
