World Series of Poker action in 2008 begins on May 30th with the Pot Limit Holdem event.
It has a $10,000 buy-in and kicks off the 2008 World Series Poker tournament. World Series of Poker events in 2008 include a total of 55 events although the 55th and last event is a casino employees-only event.
World Series of Poker action takes place at the Rio Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. The final World Series Poker tournament other than the employees’ event is the main event which begins on July 3rd. Normally the World Series of Poker main event would have ended within a few days of the July 3rd start date but ESPN and the World Series of Poker decided to move final table action to November.
World Series of Poker events include the popular No-Limit Holdem, No-Limit Holdem with rebuys, Pot-Limit Holdem, Limit Holdem, Mixed Holdem, Omaha (No-Limit and Pot-Limit), Omaha Hi/Lo, 7 Card Stud, 7 Card Stud High/Lo, No-Limit 2-7 Draw Lowball, Limit 2-7 Triple Draw Lowball, Seven card Razz, and the H.O.R.S.E. World Series Poker tournament. There are also some different varieties of No-Limit Holdem World Series of Poker events. There is the shootout World Series of Poker tournament, the six handed World Series of Poker tournament, the Ladies-only tourney, a Seniors-only tourney and an Ante Up for Africa event.
Many of these World Series of Poker events are popular but the main event is what most people come to see. It is a $10,000 buy-in and will be televised by ESPN. The final table of the World Series Poker tournament in November will be shown “almost-live” by ESPN with coverage occurring the next day.
2008 World Series of Poker action gets underway on May 30th and continues each day with the main event beginning on July 3rd. The main event continues play each day through July 6th. There will be a one day break on July 7th for the casino employees-only event with main event action resuming on July 8th and continuing until July 14th when the final table will be determined. The final table will then be played November 9th and 10th.
