Spain a Popular Online Wager for World Cup

December 1st, 2021 Online Wagering

Those making an online wager on the World Cup will notice that Spain is a slight favorite with odds of +375. That is just slightly lower than the online wagering odds on Brazil who is +400.  Spain has some injured players but all are expected to play in the World Cup which begins in June.

Online wager schedules list Spain’s first match in the World Cup for Wednesday, June 16th against Switzerland.  Spain coach Vicente del Bosque has said that three of his star players, Fernando Torres, Cesc Fabregas and Andres Iniesta should all be recovered from their injuries by then.   Del Bosque said that anything other than a World Cup championship will be unacceptable for Spain and he knows that picking the roster will be difficult.

“We know we’re going through a difficult moment because the competitions are nearing their close,” Del Bosque said. “We’re up day and night thinking about the national team.” Fernando Torres is recovering from knee surgery, while Cesc Fabregas is recovering from a fracture in his right leg. Andres Iniesta has been out with a leg injury as well. “We just hope that when the date arrives and we have to give the list, they’re all ready to go,” Del Bosque said.

Those making an online wager on the World Cup will notice that Spain has some players who could fill in if one of their stars is out.  Athletic Bilbao striker Fernando Llorente is one of the players under consideration.  Sevilla’s Jesus Navas should make the team and Everton midfielder Mikel Arteta is hoping to be on the squad. “It would be amazing for me if I had the chance to be named in the squad,” Arteta said. “I am working hard, trying to get the attention of the manager. I am always hopeful.”

What helps Spain is that in the group stage they have some really easy matches. In fact, Spain probably plays in the weakest overall group.  They should easily come out of this group that includes Switzerland, Chile and Honduras.  The online wagering odds list Spain at -400 to win Group H with only Chile getting any support at +450.  Switzerland is +875 while Honduras is +2500 to win the group.  Spain should not have any difficulty winning this group and that would put them in the knockout round of the final 16 teams.
