Online Wagering: San Antonio Spurs Are Surprise Team Of The Year In The NBA Action

Online Wagering: San Antonio Spurs Are Surprise Team. Say what you will about the online NBA wagering action but every now and then, just when you think you’ve seen everything, this league and its players can still surprise you.

In a league that is more and more known for regular season that’s too long, players taking nights off and officiating that’s almost cartoonish, the San Antonio Spurs represent everything that is right with eth world of professional basketball and especially the NBA.

The 2010-11 NBA online wagering season started off with a bang as the new look Miami Heat and their stable of superstars were supposed to come out and knock the socks off of everyone.  After a slow start to the season the Heat has pretty much done just that (when healthy) and rattled off a streak of 21 wins out of 22 games to close out the year and start 2011 off on the right foot.

In fact the Heat’s 30 wins is the second best tally in the NBA.  That in itself isn’t all that surprising, but what’s more surprising is the team that leads the NBA online wagering in victories.

The San Antonio Spurs’ record of 35-6 is not just best in the league this year but its one of the best starts in NBA history.
At the beginning of the season the Spurs were way down the list of teams that online wagering companies had identified as likely winners of the NBA Finals in 2011.
After all the team faded out of the playoffs last season without much of a fight.  The core of players are all aging and one the down slope of their careers (Tim Parker, Manu Ginobli, Tony Parker) and players brought in to counter balance the age and lack of athleticism like Richard Jefferson, have been busts.

The prognosis looked bleak heading into the 2011 NBA online wagering season, but so far, this has been the best team in the league by a long shot.
What’s most interesting about the Spurs’ success is that it’s happening while Duncan is having the worst season of his career averaging just 13.7 ppg and playing just 29 minutes a game.

But other players like DeJuan Blair and Matt Bonner have been picking up the slack and San Antonio now has the best rotation in basketball a bench that runs 9 players deep and is seemingly only getting better the longer the season wears on.
