NBA Online Wagering Spotlight: Lakers Still the Team to Beat. For the hype and flurry of free agent signings that went on over the past NBA online wagering off season you can be forgiven if you forgot about the LA Lakers.
The same LA Lakers that won the NBA title in June, their second consecutive NBA title in a row, and that added some free agent fire power of its own. But it’s hard to ignore the team now as it remains only one two undefeated teams in the league and currently holds the best record in the entire NBA at 7-0.
During the time span since the Lakers won Game 7 of the NBA Finals at home to claim the second Naismith Trophy in as many years the buzz around the online wagering community, at least in regards to the NBA, has been all Miami Heat, all the time.
After adding superstar forward Chris Bosh and two-time NBA MVP LeBron James to the roster which already included All NBA SG Dwyane Wade, this super-trio was expected to dominate the NBA action in the 2010-11 season.
Guess what? The Heat hasn’t been nearly as impressive as the press and the fan and the hype made them out to be. With a 5-2 record on the season the team has struggled with its continuity and the stats for all three players have been way down as they adjust to playing with one another.
Obviously the season is still very young and the Heat will no doubt improve as the piece meal roster spends more time on the court together.
But there’s no denying that LA Lakers are still the best team in the league –by a wide margin- and if you were to make an online wager in a matchup of these two teams the Lakers would be favored by an overwhelming margin.
This team has the potential to be very special this year. Even better than the past two years for one simple reason: Kobe Bryant looks willing to play within the team’s offensive system this season. Last year the team was better with him out of the lineup rehabbing an injury and won the NBA title despite of his play in Game 7 of the Finals.
But so far in this young NBA online wagering season he has played with the triangle offense, moving the ball with fine passing instead of taking his man off the dribble every time he touches the rock and bringing the offense to a grinding halt.
As a result Pao Gasol has led the team in scoring (24.1 ppg), assists 5.0 apg), and this offense has beaten teams inside and outside on its way to averaging an NBA best 114.0 ppg.
