Online Wager Minute: So Much for The Heat’s 82-0 Record

December 9th, 2021 Online Wagering

Every now and then, in this age of overhyped sports and the 24/7 news cycle there are those special events that no matter how much media attention is applied they still somehow manage to live up to the hype make any one who watched the game or placed on online wager on the game to somehow for a few fleeting seconds, feel special for being a part of such an amazing experience.

The season debut of the self-proclaimed ‘most hated team on the planet’ (the Miami Heat) featuring MVP LeBron James and All Stars Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh was not one of those events. In fact, the Heat’s debut was so far at the other end of the superlative spectrum that it would have been almost impossible for this team to play any worse than they did against the Boston Celtics in their NBA online wagering debut.

And most likely fans will not see this team play this poorly ever again.

In the words of the great American wordsmith (and former Rockets shooting guard) Kenny Smith: “the team had no continuity.”  It looked like a pickup game with 5 guys that had never played together.  Everything looked rushed or forced and with 14 TO between James and Wade it doesn’t take a genius to guess the outcome of this game, which was an 88-80 loss the Celtics on the road.

Anybody who made an online wager on the Heat is probably already re-thinking this team’s season results.

But despite the overall poor play and the sloppy mistakes there were flashes of brilliance and it was easy to see why this team is going to be so good.  James played point for most of the game and was able to score at will in the second half.   Wade simply looked rusty which is understandable after only playing a few quarters of NBA basketball since May.  Bosh, there’s really no excuse for his poor play other than nerves as he’s never really been on a team that was expected to win games.

Give credit to where credit is due, as the Celtics played tough.  Call this team old.  Call this team slow.  Call this team past its prime, but it got the job done.  Doc Rivers loaded up in the paint in the offseason after getting dominated by the Lakers in the paint in last year’s finals and last night the Celts platoon of big men looked great. Right now Boston (after one whole game into the season) Boston is the team to place your online wager on in the East.
