Online Wagering College Football Polls: Major Shakeup for Boise State. In what will come as absolutely no surprise to anyone even halfway familiar with how screwed up the BSC system and the college football polls are, the voters that rank the top NCAA football teams in the country have muddled the rankings yet again.
Heading into last weekend online wagering companies were posting the current polls and rankings of all the best teams in the country and they seemed to at least make sense. But on Monday morning the rankings have been turned on their head almost as if there was some type of monumental transformation of the sporting world between Thursday and Saturday of last week.
The biggest shocker for most online wagering fans will be seeing the Boise State Broncos fall from the #3 rankings it held to #4 in the national polls. And while it’s not strange to see teams fall in the rankings as it happens all the time, what is strange is to see a team fall in the rankings without losing. And especially strange when that team is coming off a 59-0 pounding of an online wagering opponent like the Broncos are.
But then again Boise State plays in a mid-level non-BSC conference so it’s an exception to the rule, apparently. But it wasn’t an exception in the pre-season when the team started out ranked #4 and then pounded a #10 ranked Virginia Tech in the Hokies backyard. And then beat up on a ranked Oregon State squad.
And sure you can make the argument –and it would be a valid one- that BSU doesn’t play any good teams and that its conference schedule is too soft. But then why pretend that this team has a shot at winning the BCS championship in the first place?
In any event, we’ve seen that this school does in fact have a chance at winning the BCS title as its record in major bowls is impeccable and anyone that saw the team take down Oklahoma several years ago knows this.
The BCS and pollsters, in all their infinite online wagering wisdom should either give this Broncos squad a legitimate shot at the title once and for all or just quit pretending that this team even has shot. It’s not fair to Boise State or the other teams in the polls and it wouldn’t be smart.
BSU has proven over the past four or five years that it is one of the best teams the college football online wagering action and it deserves a shot at the title. Unfortunately, until a playoff format is adopted, BSU won’t get one.
