Offshore Wagering Handicappers Note Clippers Firing

December 13th, 2021 Online Wagering

Offshore wagering handicappers have not really wanted much to do with the Los Angeles Clippers in recent seasons vs. the odds at online wagering companies. That may change though if the Clippers get a coach who can win.  The Clippers fired interim head coach Kim Hughes on Thursday.

Offshore wagering statistics indicated that the Clippers finished this past season at 35-46-1 against the spread. It was yet another disappointing season for the Clippers.  The team put Hughes in charge in early February but he was even worse than previous coach Mike Dunleavy.  Hughes led the team to just eight wins after taking over from Dunleavy.  The Clippers have been a mess for many seasons as they have missed the playoffs 15 times in the last 17 years. “We appreciate Kim’s contributions during his time here especially over the last two and a half months,” Clippers president Andy Roeser said. “But we also know that our responsibility is to do what is in the organization’s immediate best interests for its ability to move forward.”

The Clippers will now look for another coach who can breathe some life into the franchise for next year. “This season was an overall disappointment and certainly fell short of both our expectations and what should rightly have been anticipated by our fans. We will move deliberately and productively to regain the successful competitive position we had all hoped for when this past season began.” Roeser said.  What should help the Clippers next season is a healthy Blake Griffin.  The top draft pick missed the entire season and the hope for Los Angeles this past season really ended when Griffin got hurt in the preseason.  Los Angeles has some talent and could be improved next season vs. the offshore wagering odds with Griffin healthy, a new head coach and perhaps a top player in the NBA Draft. They may also make some trades that could help beginning with getting rid of Baron Davis.

The Clippers finished the season in 12th place in the Western Conference. They had a straight up record of 29-53. The Clippers will have a lottery pick in June’s NBA Draft and perhaps they can get a player who can help.  With Chris Kaman, Griffin and Eric Gordon, the Clippers have the making of an improved basketball team for next season vs. the NBA odds at online wagering companies.
