Online wagering companies favor Washington and Chicago as the NHL Playoffs begin this week. The Capitals are the favorite in the Eastern Conference to win the Stanley Cup by those making an online wager while the Blackhawks are favored in the Western Conference.

The action begins on Wednesday with four games and continues for the next couple of months. Washington is the overall favorite to win the Stanley Cup at odds of 3-1. The Chicago Blackhawks are a close second at 4-1. There are some other teams with single digit odds from both conferences. In the Eastern Conference, the defending Stanley Cup Champion Pittsburgh Penguins are 6-1. In the Western Conference, the San Jose Sharks are 5-1 and they are followed by the Vancouver Canucks at 7-1 and last year’s runnerup Detroit Red Wings at 8-1.
The Washington Capitals open up their first series in the NHL Playoffs as they face the Montreal Canadians in game one on Thursday. The Capitals are heavily favored at online wagering companies to dispatch of the Canadians in short order. The Blackhawks begin their series against Nashville on Friday.
