Online gambling handicappers have taken notice of Boise State’s move to the Mountain West Conference. The Broncos have dominated the WAC for the last ten years and now they will get a chance to prove they can win games in the Mountain West starting in 2011. Boise State is one of the favorites this season at Internet gambling companies to win the national title.
Online gambling odds almost always favor Boise State since they play in a weak conference. That will change once the Broncos go to the Mountain West. The Broncos would get some serious competition from teams like BYU, Utah and Boise State. The Mountain West will have 10 teams beginning in the summer of 2011. The change really affects football more than it does basketball since the Broncos are known as a power in college football while they are nothing special in college hoops.
The Mountain West Conference was founded with eight teams in 1998. They added a ninth team in 2005 as TCU was invited. Now they will be adding a tenth team. The Mountain West Conference makes perfect sense for Boise State since it is in their region. The Mountain West currently has BYU, Utah, Air Force, Wyoming, UNLV, New Mexico, Colorado State, New Mexico and TCU. The addition of Boise State should give the Mountain West enough clout to demand an automatic entrance into the Bowl Championship Series in college football starting in the 2011 or 2012 online gambling college football season.
The loss of Boise State to the Mountain West is a huge blow to the WAC. The Broncos were the best team in the conference in football vs. the online gambling odds and actually put the conference on the map. The WAC could be adding teams in the future but they will wait to see how everything shakes out with the Big 12 and the teams that are left after the Pac-10, Big 10 and other conferences expand.
The changes to the Mountain West and other conferences will not affect the online gambling odds this season at Internet gambling companies. The football and basketball schedules are already in place so it will be the 2011-2012 season where Boise State will be on the Mountain West schedule.
