The New York Yankees are one of the most followed teams at Internet gambling companies and when they don’t win you know changes are coming. The Yankees are not a team that sits still and they have already made the first change that could impact their success next season vs. the online gambling baseball odds.
Pitching Coach Fired
New York general manager Brian Cashman fired pitching coach Dave Eiland in what is expected to be the first of many moves for the Yankees in the next few months. Cashman would not give any reasons for the firing but it is not hard to figure out why. The Yankees pitching staff came apart at the seams in the American League Championship Series against the Rangers. Someone had to be blamed and Eiland took the fall. He is not going to be the only one either. He is just the first.
15th in ERA
The Yankees were just 15th in ERA this season. That means they were just an average pitching staff. Pitching wins in baseball and average is not going to get it done. Eiland got the blame but others like A.J. Burnett are likely to be gone as well. CC Sabathia was really the only one who could be counted on at the end of the season. Andy Pettitte was great for the most part this season but his age is an issue. Phil Hughes worn down and New York had nothing in the starting rotation beyond CC and Pettitte in the playoffs.
Girardi Staying
There will not be a change in managers in New York. Cashman said that the Yankees are working to sign Girardi to a contract extension. Cashman said the Yankees plan to get a contract worked out with Girardi before they hire a new pitching coach.
Yankees a Loser for Bettors
Did you realize that the Yankees lost money for online gambling bettors this season even though they won 95 games? The Yankees are so overvalued at Internet gambling companies that it is comical. The public bets the Yankees in nearly every game so even though they won 95 games and lost only 67, New York lost money for bettors this past season and the poor pitching was a major reason why.
