Injuries Affect French Open Online Gambling Odds

January 24th, 2022 Online Gambling

Online gambling odds for the French Open continue to change with top players pulling out due to injury. Reigning U.S. Open champion Kim Clijsters will not be on the odds board at Internet gambling companies because she has a foot injury. She is not the only top player that has pulled out.

Online gambling odds also won’t include 2009 U.S. Open champion, Juan Martin del Potro, sixth-ranked Nikolay Davydenko and James Blake.  The French Open odds heavily favor Rafael Nadal on the men’s side and Justin Henin on the women’s side.  It could be that neither player gets challenged in the French Open. Clisjsters definitely would have been a threat to Henin but now it will be up to Serena and Venus Williams to play well or Henin will have a cakewalk to the final.

Other injured players that won’t be part of the tournament on the women’s side include Urszula Radwanska, Sania Mirza, Anna-Lena Groenefeld and Sabine Lisicki.  Two other men that have pulled out with injury are Tommy Haas and Igor Andreev.

French Open online gambling odds are on the board for this tournament that begins on May 23rd. The men’s overwhelming favorite is Nadal. Normally Roger Federer would get some action in online gambling but he is not playing well this year. Nadal won the French Open in 2005, 2006, 2007and in 2008. He is playing very well on clay this year and is a big favorite to win the French Open. Novak Djokovic is another of the contenders but he is also not playing well.  He made the semifinals of the French Open in 2007 and in 2008 but he really is not a serious threat to Nadal.  Del Potro would have been the biggest threat to Nadal but he is no out of the tournament.  The player that might have the best chance to upset Nadal is Fernando Verdasco as he has two titles this season including one on clay.

The women’s side is all about Henin at Internet gambling companies. She won the French four times between 2003 and 2007. Serena Williams would be a threat in but she has never really been favored in the French Open.  Defending champion, Svetlana Kuznetsova might be worth a look but she is not playing that well this season.  Maria Martinez Sanchez may be worth a shot as a big underdog in online gambling.
