The Formula One season gets back underway on Sunday after their summer break with Sebastian Vettel favored in online betting to win the Belgian Grand Prix. Vettel is the Internet betting favorite even though Mark Webber leads the F1 driver standings.
Online betting numbers at SBG list Vettel as the 2-1 favorite on Sunday. Fernando Alonso is a close second choice followed by Webber and Lewis Hamilton. Felipe Massa is next at 8-1 followed by Jenson Button at 10-1. The field includes all other drivers at odds of 14-1.
Tight Drivers Race: Only 20 points separate the top five drivers in the F1 standings. Webber has the lead but only by four points over Hamilton. Vettel is 10 points back while Jenson Button is 14 back. Alonso is 20 points back in fourth.
Red Bull: Red Bull has been the team to follow in Formula One this year. Webber has the point’s lead because he has been able to stay out of trouble more than Vettel and his car has been slightly faster. Webber could be a good choice this week at Internet betting odds of 3.5 to 1.
McLaren: The team has not won a race since Hamilton won in Canada. Both Hamilton and Button know that staying close during the next two European races will be important.
Fernando Alonso: Ferrari is very optimistic about Alonso’s chances this week. Alonso said that he is very encouraged based on the results in Germany and Hungary.
Sunday’s Race: The teams will all be trying to get back into the swing of things after a long break. Red Bull has the edge though but Vettel is concerned about the straights in this race. He said that the weakness for Red Bull is the long straights. It may not matter though since Red Bull has been so strong all year.
The question is who to bet on Sunday. There is no value with Vettel at 2-1. There is some value with Webber at 3.5 to 1 but if Red Bull does struggle a little bit then the race should be Alonso’s to win. He doesn’t offer a lot of value at just over 2-1 but all signs point to him having a very good week.
