Slovenia is a Confident Internet Betting Underdog vs. U.S.

Slovenia may be an underdog on Friday against the United States in World Cup Internet betting but they are confident. Slovenia midfielder Andrej Komac has even said that his country is going to beat the U.S. on Friday.  That would be an upset in online betting since the U.S. is favored.

Internet betting odds list the U.S. as -110 favorites on Friday on the three-way soccer line against Slovenia.  The United States opened up with a 1-1 draw against England while Slovenia beat Algeria.  If Slovenia can upset the United States on Friday they would advance to the knockout round and put the U.S. in serious trouble.  Slovenia should not be underestimated. They finished second in their qualifying group ahead of Poland and the Czech Republic and then they upset Russia to make it to the World Cup.

Slovenia got a goal from captain Robert Koren to defeat Algeria and they are confident they can find a way to score against the United States.  Slovenia was very strong defensively against Algeria and they may be able to shut down a U.S. attack that did very little against England.  The United States also has history working against them as they have never beaten a team from Central or Eastern Europe in the World Cup. They have eight losses and a draw. The draw came against Switzerland in 1994.  When the U.S. shocked England back in 1950 they went out and lost next time out to Chile and then didn’t make the World Cup for another 40 years.  This U.S. team is better but they are in no way a world power.  They could have trouble winning in Internet betting against Slovenia in this World Cup match.

The United States is ranked 14th in the world while Slovenia is ranked 25th.  The U.S. rating is probably a little high because they had success against Spain last year.  U.S. head coach Bob Bradley is concerned. He compares Slovenia to the Slovakia team that beat the U.S. last October. He expects Slovenia to play excellent defense and counter attack.  The U.S. got a fortunate draw against England vs. online betting odds, but to advance in the World Cup they need to do more than just get a draw against Slovenia.
