Bookmaker – Texas Breaks Kansas Home Winning Streak.  There was a major surprise at the bookmaker on Saturday as Kansas’ long home winning streak came to an end.Texas came from 15 points down on Saturday to beat the Jayhawks, ending their 69-game home winning streak. Kansas was favored at the bookie and looked good early but they ran out of gas late and the Longhorns got the win.

Texas 74-63
J’Covan Brown scored 23 points and led a big second half run for the Longhorns.  The Longhorns had to survive and early emotional start for the Jayhawks but it wasn’t easy.  Kansas had an emotional beginning to the game on Saturday as the night before the players learned that the mother of Thomas Robinson had died.  Robinson stayed with the team and Kansas came out very strong leading 10-0 and they stretched the lead up to 15 in the first half.  Kansas was looking good at the half leading by 12 but the Jayhawks lost much of their emotion and Texas ran over them in the second half, outscoring Kansas 51-28, easily getting the win and cover vs. the odds at SBG.

Long Streak is Over
The Jayhawks had not lost at home since February of 2007. Their 69-game home winning streak was the longest in the nation.  They had not lost at home against Texas in Big 12 play going 7-0.  In fact, Texas had never before won at Allen Fieldhouse.  Kansas did not shoot the ball well on Saturday as Texas held them to 36 percent. In the second half, Kansas was really bad hitting just 8 of 30 shots.

Overdue
You could almost see this home loss against the bookie odds coming for Kansas. In their last three home games they had won by one, two, and three points respectively.  And none of the three teams they beat, Nebraska, USC or UCLA is nearly as good as Texas. Kansas came into the game against Texas unbeaten on the season.  After their loss there are just two remaining unbeaten teams.  #1 Ohio State and #6 San Diego State are still perfect on the season.  The Jayhawks will try and recover from Saturday’s loss but it won’t be easy against the college hoops odds at the bookmaker as they face a tough test at Colorado on Tuesday.
