Online Bookmaker – NHL All-Star Game is Team Lidstrom vs. Team Staal

December 1st, 2020 Online Offshore Bookmaker

It will be interesting to see how the online bookmaker lists the two teams in this year’s NHL All-Star Game. This year’s game is not the typical East vs. West as in past years. It will be team Staal vs. team Lidstrom.  What does that mean in offshore betting for this year’s All-Star Game.

This year’s All-Star game is a matchup between the best players in the NHL but we don’t know yet who will be on each team.  It is like a pickup game on the playground where you pick the best players and rotate your picks.  The two team captains are Carolina’s Eric Staal and Detroit’s Nicklas Lidstrom.  That means that the game will be a matchup in offshore betting at the Sbg sportsbook between Staal’s team and Lidstrom’s team.

Draft to Pick Teams
Staal and Lidstrom were actually elected as the captains for the game.  42 players were selected for the All-Star game on January 30th and those players voted on who would be the captains.  Staal and Lidstrom won the voting.  Team Staal will wear the white jerseys while Team Lidstrom will wear the dark blue jerseys.  The two captains will pick their teams in a draft type format.  They will alternate picks through 18 rounds.  Each team will have 12 forwards, six defensemen and three goaltenders.

Staal a Logical Pick
The choice of Staal was an easy one for the players.  He is a three-time All-Star and this years’ game is being held in Raleigh, North Carolina so it makes sense to have Staal as a captain since he is the leader of the Carolina Hurricanes. He is also having a strong season with 22 goals and 24 assists in 45 games and impacts the NHL odds at the online bookmaker.

Lidstrom a Future Hall of Famer
The selection of Lidstrom is a bit of a surprise but looking at his resume it is easy to see why the players respect him. He has won the Norris Trophy as the best defenseman in the league six times and this will be his 12th All-Star game.  He has played his entire career with the Detroit Red Wings and continues to play at a high level.
