Series so Far

Vegas leads this best of seven series 2-1.  Game five of this Western Conference Final is at Winnipeg Sunday.  If necessary game six is back in Sin City.  A seventh game whiteout would be at Winnipeg.  Game three went to the Golden Knights 4-2.  Jonathan Marchessault showed up to the game in a Lamborghini.  And scored 35 seconds into the game to set the tone for Vegas.  He later added an empty net tally to ice the game with three seconds to play.  Golden Knights goalie Marc Andre Fleury again made the Stanley Cup Playoff odds difference.

Fleury’s Highlights

Fleury stopped 33 of 35 shots against in game three.  He has posted an incredible save percentage of .945 so far in post season.  And has added four shutouts.  His goals against average is 1.70 with a record of 10-3.  Fleury has three Stanley Cup rings from his time at Pittsburgh.  He was the starting goaltender for the first of those three titles.  When Vegas drafted him, he gave the new team instant street cred as a champion.  Few expansion teams can claim a bona fide top goaltender.  But the Golden Knights have struck gold with Fleury.

Jonathan Marchessault

Jonathan Marchessault has epitomized what the Golden Knights are all about.  Florida discarded him like garbage for the expansion draft.  Just like when they kicked Vegas coach Gerard Gallant to the Curb in November of 2016.  This has been the rallying cry for the team.  They are proud to be misfits and castoffs.  Not being wanted by their previous clubs actually serves to motivate them.  Marchessault has eight goals and nine assists in post season with a plus 11.  Gallant is a finalist for coach of the year.  Vegas is the most successful first year expansion team in history.

Challenge up Ahead for the Jets

Game four will provide a stiff sportsbook challenge for the Jets.  Their win last series over Nashville was impressive.  The Predators were defending Western Conference champions.  But Winnipeg may have expended a lot of energy in that intense series.  They had to travel to Nashville for a game seven.  Then immediately return home to start this series.  Vegas was resting for several days as the Jets had to close out the Preds.

Matchup to Watch

Fleury, motivation, and a crazed home crowd give Vegas a huge edge.  It all adds up to the Stanley Cup Playoff odds matchup edge.
