In the beginning, it was a struggle for Arizona in the desert. Originally, the Coyotes shared an arena with the NBA Phoenix Suns. But many of the seats in one end zone were obstructed. When the Coyotes finally got their own home, it was in remote Glendale.
Next, the Coyotes left Glendale to play at the home of the NCAA Arizona State Sun Devils program in an arena that seats around 6,000 fans. The plan was to play there for a couple of years until a new arena could be built in Tempe. But the project never saw a shovel penetrate the ground. As a result of the Arizona stalemate, Utah has a new hockey team. The Utah Hockey Club will share the Delta Center with the NBA Utah Jazz, which the same group owns.
