Sharks Out of Tank for NHL Playoffs Betting Odds at Colorado

San Jose Sharks vs. Colorado Avalanche Game 4

Last season was a nice one for the Colorado Avalanche.  For the first time since 2014 they made the post season.  And as expected the Avs suffered a first round NHL Playoffs betting online loss to Nashville.  In view of that exit not many gamblers had Colorado tapped to make a deep run in the Western Conference playoffs.  Increasingly more members of the hockey wagering community have begun to take the Avalanche seriously.  More emphatically San Jose is focused like a laser beam on the upstart Avs.  A two-game split at SAP Center got everyone’s full attention.

These teams will head back to San Jose for Game five on Saturday.  And if game six is necessary it will be in Denver on Monday.  While a game seven would be next Wednesday in San Jose.

Grubauer Emerges for Avalanche

Phillip Grubauer has been sharp for the Avalanche thus far in post season.  To show he has a playoff save percentage of .924 with a 2.35 goals against average.  A former backup with the Washington Capitals, Grubauer has finally emerged as a top goaltender at Colorado.  Grubauer arrived in Denver to back up Semyon Varlamov.  But eventually he outplayed the slumping Varlamov and took the top job.

Jones takes Sharks and Gamblers on Roller Coaster Ride

Martin Jones of the Sharks is another backup that eventually became a starting goalie at San Jose.  Jones has been wildly inconsistent in the playoffs.  Overall his post season save percentage is .907 with a 3.04 goals against average.  Following a terrible start in the first round against Vegas, Jones did rally and go clutch to post three consecutive wins.

San Jose and Colorado vs. the Board

Late results have not been good for the Sharks on the road.  San Jose has lost five of their last seven away tilts.  Four of their last five in that role have gone under the total.  Colorado has shown poor recent NHL Playoffs betting online value at home.  As an example, the Avalanche have won just two of their last eight post season home matchups.  Only two of their last five Pepsi Center contests have gone over the total.

Sharks vs. Avalanche Head to Head vs. Spread

Colorado has had the sports betting advantage at home against San Jose.  Previously the Avalanche have won seven of their last 11 home ice matchups with the Sharks.  Five of the last six between these teams at Pepsi Center have gone over the total.

Matchup to Watch

In this situation Colorado will boast the best player on the ice in center Nathan MacKinnon.  Fashion his four goals and seven assists to lead the Avs.  MacKinnon is the key NHL Playoffs Betting online matchup advantage.  Furthermore, Grubauer has been the more consistent goaltender.
