Western Conference Final Series Update

This best of seven series is tied at one game each after a split in the first two tilts at San Jose.  First the Sharks dominated game one with a 6-3 win that went over the total at the Shark Tank.  Second game went to the Blues 4-2 as over the total hit for the second straight time.  Game four will be at St. Louis with game five at San Jose.  If necessary, game six is at St. Louis with game seven back at the Shark Tank.

Series so Far

Game one was all San Jose as the Sharks peppered Blues rookie sensation goaltender Jordan Binnington for five goals on 24 shots in a 6-3 win.  Extending the Sharks success was Timo Maier and Logan Couture.  Both players lit the lamp twice while adding one assist.  Gustav Nyquist added two assists.  And goaltender Martin Jones stopped 28 out of 31 shots.  Following that was an impressive 4-2 Blues win to even the series.  Binnington recovered nicely to stop 24 out of 26 shots.  Leading the Blues was Joel Edmondson with two goals and two assists.

Fashion the play of San Jose center Logan Couture.  So far in the playoffs Couture has 13 goals with six assists and a plus eight.  In fact, he has emerged as a top tier Conn Smythe trophy candidate for playoff most valuable player.  Defenseman Brent Burns has five goals, 10 assists and a plus three as a top tier blue liner.  St. Louis has been led in the playoffs by Jaden Schwartz with nine goals and four assists with a plus five.
