The Flames have been getting great play out of Brendan Morrison. In fact, he was leading the team in scoring after nine games. This is a player who was cut by Vancouver just before the season. Morrison had nine points in the first nine games. He has had three multi-point games. Calgary is 15th in the league in goals scored at 2.8 per game but the Calgary defense has been very good at 5th in the league. They are allowing just 2.3 goals per game. The penalty kill for Calgary has been excellent, ranking 6th in the league.

The teams have split their last four games. The teams do not play that often but they did meet last year as the Flames won 5-3 at Washington. The previous meeting was in 2008 when the Flames won 2-1 at home. The Capitals won the previous two games.
