Saturday NHL Betting – Washington at Calgary on CBC

You get an interesting game in NHL betting on Saturday to watch if you have CBC television as the Washington Capitals visit the Calgary Flames. The Capitals have Alex Ovechkin and they are considered the top team in the East while the Flames are off to a very good start in the West.  This game should be a fun one to make an NHL bet on at Sbg global.

Alex the Great
The Capitals have been winning even though Alex Ovechkin hasn’t done very much.  It is not that worrisome because Washington is winning. The Capitals are getting great goaltending from Michal Neuvirth and he is making a strong case for the number one job. Neuvirth got his first career shutout against Carolina and he was 6-2-0 after that win. He has been excellent with Semyon Varlamov out with a groin injury.  The Capitals are 11th in the league in goals per game at 2.9 while their defense is 7th in the league as they are allowing just 2.3 runs per game.  Washington has struggled on the power play as they are just 25th in the league but their penalty killing has been very good at fifth in the league.

Morrison Leading the Flames
The Flames have been getting great play out of Brendan Morrison. In fact, he was leading the team in scoring after nine games. This is a player who was cut by Vancouver just before the season.  Morrison had nine points in the first nine games. He has had three multi-point games. Calgary is 15th in the league in goals scored at 2.8 per game but the Calgary defense has been very good at 5th in the league. They are allowing just 2.3 goals per game.  The penalty kill for Calgary has been excellent, ranking 6th in the league.

Series History
The teams have split their last four games.  The teams do not play that often but they did meet last year as the Flames won 5-3 at Washington.  The previous meeting was in 2008 when the Flames won 2-1 at home.  The Capitals won the previous two games.  Last year’s game went over the total but the game in 2008 went under in NHL betting so you have to look at this year’s stats when you make an NHL bet.
