Penn in Stanley Cup Odds Action

The Montreal Canadiens were the biggest long of the entire NHL playoff betting field when the countdown to the Stanley Cup odds action began in April. And now there they are, just one hockey betting win away from defeating the Stanley Cup betting champs and earning a spot in the Eastern Conference Finals betting action.

This truly has been a fairytale NHL betting postseason for the Habs.  At the end of the regular season this team was simply fighting for a spot in the NHL playoff betting.  Through 82 games during the NHL betting regular season the Canadiens amassed just 88 points (39-33-10) and grabbed the #8 seed in the Eastern Conference playoff betting on the very last day of the season.

This was a team that was thrown to the Lions in the first round of the Stanley Cup betting and was thought by most Stanley Cup odds experts to be little more than a sacrificial lamb for the regular season champs, Washington Capitals, on their way to their inevitable hockey betting showdown with Pittsburgh.

But after seven games the Caps were sent packing and the Habs advanced to the next round of the Stanley Cup odds action, pulling off one of the biggest NHL playoff betting upsets in years.

And now, in the Eastern Conference semi-finals, the Canadiens and their tremendous goalie Jaroslav Halak have pushed the mighty Pens to the brink and forced a Game Seven in this hockey betting series.

All the Stanley Cup betting odds are against Montreal winning this game and ultimately this series.  They’ll be playing on the road, in a very inhospitable atmosphere at Pittsburgh.  They’ll be playing against an experienced defending Stanley Cup betting champ and it will be all but impossible to keep their NHL betting Cinderella run alive.

But somehow this team seems destined for great things, perhaps even a berth in the Stanley Cup odds action.  Halak has been a one man wrecking crew throughout this hockey betting series.  Midnight will strike soon enough for the Cinderella Habs but the sports betting world would love to see the underdog’s struggle continue for one more game –and perhaps a handful- in this year’s exciting NHL playoff betting season.
