Boston started off gangbusters with the NHL playoff lines. With 5-1 and 7-3 home wins to open the series they looked unbeatable. Toronto scored a 4-2 home win in game three. Toronto has stayed alive despite the ineffectiveness of their top player. Center Auston Matthews was the top 2016 NHL Draft pick. So far in the playoffs he has been limited to one goal and one assist. A real eyesore is his minus five in the series. During the regular season Matthews had 34 goals and 29 assists. He also powered to a plus 25. Left wing James van Riemsdyk has been top man for the Leafs. So far in post season he has three goals. Defenseman Morgan Rielly has added five assists.
Boston
Boston left wing David Pastrnak scored four goals in the first two games. Pastrnak also has seven assists in the playoffs. However, he has failed to light the lamp since then. Top center Patrice Bergeron has yet to score a goal. Bergeron scored 30 goals in regular season play. Left wing Brad Marchand has two goals and five assists in this series. Defenseman Torey Krug has one goal and seven assists. However, Krug has slipped to a minus three through six games.
