NHL Game of the Night, New York Islanders at Vancouver

NHL game betting is almost assuredly going to be popular on Vancouver on Tuesday as they host the New York Islanders. The Canucks are one of the best teams in the NHL while the Islanders are marginal at best.  New York has been terrible on the road in hockey betting and that is another reason the Canucks should get the action.

NHL betting heavily favors Vancouver since the Islanders have not won a road game in more than two months.  Winning at Vancouver won’t be easy for the Islanders.  The Canucks lead the Northwest Division and they are coming off a 3-1 win over Calgary on Sunday.  They routed Ottawa on Saturday so they are already 2-0 on this homestand. The Canucks are getting excellent play out of Henrik Sedin who has 93 points this season. That is just three behind league leader Alex Ovechkin. Sedin has three goals and seven assists in the last five games.  His brother, Daniel Sedin has three goals and 13 assists in the last 10 games.  And the Canucks are getting excellent play from Ryan Kesler who has the longest current point streak in the NHL right now at 13 straight.  He has six goals and nine assists in the streak.

Vancouver also has Roberto Luongo in goal and he has won seven straight at home with a 1.72 goals against average. Luongo is 1-0-1 against the Islanders with a 1.39 GAA since the 2006-07 season.  Vancouver has won seven of the last eight in hockey betting at home against the Islanders.

New York has lost eight straight on the road overall in NHL betting.  They usually are out of games early on the road as they have been outscored 11-3 in the first period.  The Islanders did won on Saturday against New Jersey in NHL betting and on Sunday against Toronto but both of those games were at home.  “We feel like we owe each other results and consistency,” said goaltender Martin Biron, “When you play with the attitude and dedication we have right now, you have that sense you’re going to play well.”

The Islanders are 4-1 in their last 5 vs. Western Conference. The Islanders are 5-13 in their last 18 overall. The Islanders are 13-52 in their last 65 road games. The Islanders are 1-4 in the last 5 meetings in Vancouver

The Canucks are 4-0 in their last 4 vs. the Atlantic Division. The Canucks are 41-12 in their last 53 home games.

Four of the last five New York games overall have gone under the total. Nine of the last ten Vancouver games overall have gone over in NHL betting.
