Hockey Betting – Game 7 – Red Wings at Sharks

Hockey Betting Game 7 of the Red Wings at Sharks. It all comes down to Game 7 in hockey betting on Thursday night as the San Jose Sharks host the Detroit Red Wings. The Red Wings have won the last three games of the best-of-seven series as they try to make playoff history. The Sharks are -120 favorites in NHL hockey betting at SBG.

Extremely Close Games
The Game 6 win by Detroit at home came by a score of 3-1 but it would have been another one goal game if not for an empty net goal.  Every other game in this series has been decided by single goal.  Neither team scored in the first two periods of Game 6 on Tuesday night.  San Jose scored to take a 1-0 lead in the third period even though they had been outplayed for much of the game. The Red Wings didn’t panic and scored twice in a two minute period to take a 2-1 lead and they added the empty netter. If not for San Jose goaltender Antti Niemi who made 42 saves the Red Wings probably would have won big in Game 6.

Historic Collapse?
The Sharks are one loss away in NHL hockey betting from becoming just the fourth team in NHL history to blow a 3-0 series lead. It happened last year when Philadelphia beat Boston after losing the first three games.  It nearly happened earlier this season but Vancouver won Game 7 in overtime against Chicago after blowing a 3-0 series lead. San Jose had a players meeting after the Game 6 where some players spoke up.  Defenseman Douglas Murray said that the team played rotten on Tuesday and if not for Niemi they would have been blown out. He called the effort embarrassing.  The Sharks were outshot 45-25 and didn’t look like a team that cared.

Game Notes
San Jose has a chance to win in hockey betting on Thursday because they are at home. The home team is 5-2 in the last 7 meetings in this series and the Red Wings are just 2-6 in the last 8 meetings in San Jose. It should also be noted in NHL history that four teams who rallied from a 3-0 deficit ended up losing Game 7.  Game 6 went under the total on Tuesday night and you can probably expect a low scoring Game 7. The Under is 5-1-1 in the Sharks last 7 home games.
