Blues Host Stars in Critical Betting on NHL Playoff Games Showdown

Dallas Stars vs. St. Louis Blues Game 5

Not withstanding a strong regular season finish by the St. Louis Blues did everyone understand that that the post season offered no guarantees.  St. Louis impressed all with their betting on NHL Playoff games success against Winnipeg in the first round.  But their second round series against the Dallas Stars was worrisome. Dallas goaltender Ben Bishop is the ultimate difference maker.  Bishop can and does steal games literally by himself.  Of great concern was the Stars ability to score goals on Blues rookie goaltender Jordan Binnington.  Dallas struggled to light the lamp all season.

A Tale of Two Goaltenders

Jordan Binnington is a 25 year old rookie that saved the Blues season.  To begin with he posted a regular season save percentage of .927 with a 1.89 goals against and five shutouts.  Binnington’s record was 24-5-1.  Now in the playoffs Binnington has a .910 save percentage with a 2.65 goals against average with a record of 6-3.  At the time Binnington took over in goal the Blues were in last place in the Western Conference.  His contribution is incalculable.

In the same way Ben Bishop is the reason for the Stars post season.  In the regular season the nine year veteran posted a .934 save percentage with a 1.98 goals against average and seven shutouts.  His record was 27-15-2-.  Correspondingly Bishop has a playoff save percentage of .931 with a 2.26 goals against average.  His record is 5-4.

Key Players

Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin were called out by Dallas upper management in December for lack of production.  Fashion they are now the top two scorers for the Stars in post season.  Contrarily Jordan Schwartz of the Blues has six goals with two assists.

Dallas and St. Louis against the Line

Certainly, a strong goaltender can help a road team for betting on NHL Playoff games.  Dallas illustrates that with nine payouts in their last 13 away matchups.  Only three of their last eight in that situation have cleared the total.  By contrast the Blues have had firm control of the Payout window at Enterprise Center.  St. Louis has won 15 of their last 20 home ice matchups.  Just three of their last nine in that role have gone over the total.

Blues vs. Stars Head to Head vs. Spread

Late results have gone well for the Stars at the Enterprise Center.  Dallas has shown good sportsbook potential with three wins in their last four games at St. Louis.  Only one of the last five between these teams at Enterprise Center went over the total.

Matchup to Watch

A clear difference can be seen between Ben Bishop and most any other goaltender.  Bishop is a dominant impact player for Betting on NHL Playoff games.  His teammates say his excellence gives them confidence to take chances knowing he’ll cover their mistakes.
