Blues Face Tough NHL Lines at Nashville Sunday

At the onset of the season St. Louis was written off for dead after a start that was so bad, they had to fire coach Mike Yeo.  New head coach Craig Berube has needed time to get the team in sync but all of a sudden the Blues are in the playoff race.  Also St. Louis has been more profitable with the NHL lines.  At the beginning of the season Nashville was a top pick to win the Western Conference.  And the Predators have done nothing to change those expectations.  However, the Preds have hit an inconsistent stretch.

St. Louis Blues

Presently St. Louis is in good form with six wins in their last nine games.  Just one of their last four games have gone under the total.  NHL metrics have the Blues ranked 19th for goal scoring and 15th for goals against.  As a result, they now stand at 23-22-4-1 with 22-25-3 under the total.  Most important of all St. Louis is just three points out of the final Western Conference playoff spot.

Nashville Predators

In the same way Nashville has been playing good hockey and taking profits.  The Predators have won three of their last four with only one of their last seven games clearing the total.  Nashville ranks 13th in the NHL for goal scoring but third for goals against.  Extending concerns about the Preds is their 31st ranked power play.  Nashville is 31-19-3-1 with 24-27-3 under the total.  Owing to that is a second place standing in the Central Division.

Important Players on Court

First, St. Louis has been getting strong play from Ryan O’Reilly.  The center iceman has 19 goals, 33 assists and a plus 17.  Counter to that is Nashville right wing Viktor Arvidsson’s 21 goals.

Stats to Consider

St. Louis has had their best value with the NHL lines on the road.  As an example, the Blues have won eight of their last 12 games on enemy ice.  Their last four away games have failed to stay under the number.  Along the same lines Nashville has been gushing red ink in recent home action.  The Preds have lost five of their last seven games at Bridgestone Arena.  Just one of their last five home games have cleared the total.

Team vs. Team

Late results in this series have been dominated by Nashville.  Predators backers have been paid in eight of their last ten sportsbook games with St. Louis.  Just two of the last 11 between these teams went over the total.  Further, the Preds have totally ruled the cashier’s cage at home against the Blues.   Nashville has won nine consecutive games at Bridgestone Arena against St. Louis.  Just one of the last six in this matchup at Music City went over the total.

Blues vs. Predators NHL Lines Picks

Certainly, the Nashville goaltending tandem of Pekka Rinne and Juuse Saros are a matchup advantage with the NHL lines.  Consider both netminders are at 2.50 goals against per game or better.  As mentioned earlier the Predators have dominated this series.
