Will Jones Change Indianapolis Colts 2025 NFL Future Market Prospects

Since 2015, the Colts have made two playoff appearances. The most recent one was in 2020. However, Indianapolis has become one of the most mediocre NFL future odds franchises in football. The Indianapolis Colts have swapped out quarterbacks like flat tires every year since the sudden retirement of Andrew Luck. In Anthony Richardson, the Colts thought that they had one of the most thrilling prospects in all of football. Instead, he will be fighting for his job when training camp opens for the 2025 season.

The 2025 sports betting season will begin with a sad note for the Indianapolis Colts. Owner Jim Irsay passed away on May 21. He was a visible and personable owner who made the Colts relevant, a perennial Super Bowl contender, and the 2006 world champions. Now, his daughters are expected to take command of the franchise. One of them, Carlie Irsay-Gordon, is reportedly set to take over football operations.

QB Daniel Jones was sent packing by the New York Giants. Now, he will get a second lease on life in Indianapolis. Specifically, it is a 2025 NFL futures location where the pressure and media microscope are far less invasive. Jones parlayed a strong 2022 season into a massive contract. However, it was all downhill from there. How much of the failure was his fault, or the lack of a supporting cast, remains to be seen.

Indy’s secondary was ineffective in 2024, allowing 229.4 passing yards per game during the regular season (seventh-worst in the NFL). Cause by that glaring weakness, it makes sense that it was a main emphasis during free agency. Namely, corner Charvarius Ward and safety Camryn Bynum were brought in. Their arrivals instantly raised the floor of the pass defense.

While the Colts did a good job fixing the secondary, gamblers have some serious questions about the offensive line. Despite losing Ryan Kelly and Will Fries in free agency, they didn’t take a lineman until the fourth round.

Meanwhile, a looming 2025 quarterback battle is underway, with Daniel Jones set to compete against Anthony Richardson. But if Jones wins the job, will the Colts truly be happy with that outcome? That means their former No. 4 overall quarterback in Richardson, is a lost cause.

Indianapolis Colts Team History

Since 1995, the Colts have been one of the most successful franchises in pro football. Indianapolis has missed the playoffs just nine times since then. Of course, much of that success was due to Peyton Manning, who led them to two Super Bowl appearances with one win. Indeed, Lucas Oil Stadium is the House that Peyton Built.
