Last year, the Tennessee Titans hit rock bottom. After making the NFL Playoffs for three consecutive seasons and earning a berth in the 2019 AFC championship, the roof caved in. To show, in 2022, the Tennessee Titans went 7-10. As a result, there was the parting of the ways with key brass from the front office and the departure of quarterback Ryan Tannehill.

Next, after seemingly winning a power struggle for control, head coach Mike Vrabel went 6-11. At the same time, rookie quarterback Will Levis became a sports betting joke. And that was even more exemplified in 2024 when the Titans went 3-14. Levis was booed off the field repeatedly at Nissan Stadium.

Cam Ward, the Miami U QB, was instantly one-upped by the Jaguars trading up to select Hunter, and then the subsequent free fall of Shedeur Sanders. While the rest of the league sleeps on Ward, the Titans are hoping they’ve found their quarterback of the future. So there is some excitement about this new era. Indeed, this offseason is all about Ward. If he’s who the Titans hope he is, they’re in a good 2025 NFL futures spot. If not, they remain in the basement.

Additionally, gamblers did like the selection of third-round safety Kevin Winston Jr. So long as he’s healthy, he’ll be a playmaker in the secondary. In free agency, handing Dan Moore Jr. a four-year, $82 million deal doesn’t exactly get the masses excited.

Tennessee Titans Team History

The Titans have developed a rabid fan base in Tennessee, which has experienced its share of highs and lows. Tennessee once made the NFL Playoffs three straight years, but fans are still smarting from their 2021 AFC divisional playoff loss to the Cincinnati Bengals and the recent downfall.

Initially, Tennessee was founded in 1960 as the Houston Oilers, charter members of the American Football League. In 1997, the Oilers moved to Tennessee due to stadium issues. In 1999, the Titans made their only Super Bowl appearance, losing a heartbreaker to the St. Louis Rams.
