Tampa Bay Buccaneers NFL Preseason Betting

A big long shot in NFL preseason betting Super Bowl odds are the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. They are 125-1 to win the Super Bowl this season and they are 20-1 long shots to win the NFC South.  While the Bucs are long shots in terms of futures they could have some success vs. NFL preseason odds.

NFL preseason betting on the Bucs begins with their game on August 14th at Miami. The Bucs will be underdogs in that game but they might be favored in Week 2 as they host Kansas City.  Their third preseason game is at home against Jacksonville while they finish up at Houston.

In the NFL, most teams believe they can make the playoffs.  Even Detroit should be vastly improved this season. The one team that really is not in the playoff conversation is Tampa Bay. The Bucs have a lot of young players but they have a long way to go.  Quarterback Josh Freeman is in his second year, Arrelious Benn is in his rookie season and defensive tackle Gerald McCoy is also a rookie.  The growing pains are going to be evident in 2010 for the Bucs.

The offense is not without talent as the running trio of Cadillac Williams, Derrick Ward and Earnest Graham is a good one.  The passing game is weak as Freeman has a long way to go but at least the Bucs have a very good tight end in Kellen Winslow Jr.  The wide receivers for Tampa Bay are very suspect so it will be up to Benn to make a big difference if the Bucs are to have a downfield passing threat.

The defense is another story for Tampa Bay. The Bucs have a lot of problems on the defensive end.  Their linebackers are weak and their secondary is terrible.  The front line should be better though with the addition of McCoy and the Bucs have at least one good player in the defensive backfield in Aqib Talib.

The Bucs are not given much respect in NFL preseason odds. Tampa Bay is given virtually no chance to even have a .500 season.  Winning six games would probably be a major step forward.  Head coach Raheem Morris has his work cut out for him with a young team that has a lot of growing left to do.
