Stock, Teams and NFL Betting Lines

The goal when looking at NFL lines is to find teams to buy low and sell high in football betting.  If you treat teams as stocks rather than teams you have a chance to do that when looking at NFL lines.  You may not know this but NFL betting lines are actually set based more on perception than reality.  The NFL lines are set by oddsmakers in anticipation of what the public will bet.  If a team is a good team that the public doesn’t believe in and another team has a great reputation but is not playing well then that team still might be favored on the NFL lines.

They may not deserve to be favored on the NFL betting line but based on public perception they are.  The oddsmakers may actually set a trap on the NFL betting line because the popular team is a false favorite.  That makes that team a sucker bet for the football betting public.

The same thing happens when looking at over/unders on the NFL line. The oddsmakers will set their numbers based on public perception instead of the true facts.  You see it all the time when high scoring teams like Cincinnati Bengals and Indianapolis have high totals in certain games because the football betting oddsmakers charge a premium price for betting those teams to go over the total on the football line.

What you need to do when looking at NFL betting lines is to always pay attention to the public opinion on a game.  That may mean you need to watch the media shows and check out Internet sites to make sure you know what the public opinion on a game will be when you look at NFL lines.  You want to make sure you are not on the same side as overwhelming public opinion when you analyze NFL lines.
