Steelers and Bucs Monday Night Bet on NFL Pick’em Affair

Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Extending the criticism of Pittsburgh head coach Mike Tomlin was last week’s loss to Kansas City.  Once upon a time the Steelers had a defense known at the “Steel Curtain.”  But Pittsburgh was lit up in a 43-37 loss.  Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes threw for 326 yards and six touchdowns to fully embarrass the Steelers.  With a Bet on NFL record of 0-1-1 straight up and 0-2 against the spread Tomlin’s facing intense heat from fans.  By contrast Tampa Bay is undefeated and paid out in both games.  So too do they boast the NFL’s top ranked offense. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Tampa Bay is coming off a 27-21 Bet on NFL home win and payout over Philadelphia.  Owing to the win was quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick’s phenomenal performance.  Fitzpatrick was 27/33 passing for 402 yards and four touchdowns.  Likewise, the Buccaneers jumped out to a 27-7 lead.  Defensively they held the Eagles to 5/15 on third downs and forced two turnovers.  Presently the Bucs are alone at the top of the NFC South.  Of major concern for Tampa Bay is that their defense ranks 31st overall in the NFL.  Most of all they almost let the Eagles in the back door.

Important Names on the Field

Fitzpatrick, the 14-year pro out of Harvard, has been off the charts so far.  In spite of a career quarterback rating of 81.1 he is at 151.1 after two weeks. Concurrently there are concerns that he has to comeback down to earth.  Balanced against Fitzpatrick’s hot start is the sluggishness of Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger.  Thus far Big Ben has a quarterback rating of 86.5 with a 4/3 touchdown to interception ratio.  In addition, the Steelers rank 20th for rushing yardage.  Following that is their ranking of 28th for points allowed.

Pittsburgh Steelers

Pittsburgh has been in the red recently with the offshore bookmaker in road games.  Overall the Steelers have lost six of their last ten against the spread in that situation.  And just four of their last 18 away games went over the total.  Comparable to that are the Bucs solid home numbers.  To show Tampa Bay has covered eight of their last 13 at Raymond James Stadium.  Including three in a row.  Nine of their last 12 home games went under the total.

Team vs. Team

Previously in this series the Steelers have paid in four of their last five against the Bucs.  And the last two meetings went over the total.  Consistent with that is Pittsburgh getting the money in their last three visits to Tampa Bay.  Three of the last four between these teams at Raymond James Stadium went under the total.

Matchup to Watch

Immediately the Tampa Bay offense vs. Pittsburgh defense comes to mind as a Bet on NFL Matchup advantage.  Not withstanding their desperation as a winless team, the Steelers are yet to snap out of it.  Equally important the Bucs have great momentum and a better price.

To conclude the Buccaneers are in better form and should be primed for the Monday night home crowd.
