Steelers Big Favorites Over Jets in Week 10

football cheerleaders in full stadiumThis Sunday, the 9th of October, the Pittsburgh Steelers now 6-3 (1st NFC North) play the New York Jets 1-8 (4th AFC East) at 1 PM ET at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The Steelers are early favorites at -3 ½ with the O/U at 47.

Presently, the Jets are on the edge of setting a franchise record for the most consecutive losses, and it hard to imagine how things could get worse for the Jets or their coach Ryan, But when you stop to think, that now the Steelers are coming to town, with their hot QB Roethlisberger, and the Jets will have to stop him if they want to win their 2nd game of the season. The Jets have not won a game since their 1st game of 2014, when they beat the now 0-8 Raiders. Last week they lost to the Chiefs 24-10 for their 8th straight defeat.

For the Steelers in their last 2 games their QB threw 12 TD passes in those 2 games, Six touchdowns in the 51-34 over the Colts, and six touchdowns in the 43-23 win over the Ravens last week. Presently his completion % is 68.3 which are 2nd best in the NFL, with his 22 touchdowns passes, he’s tied for third. In the game in 2013 with the Jets the Steelers won the game 19-6.

The offensive leaders for the Steelers are QB Roethlisberger, who for the season to date has completed 231 of his 238 passes for 2.270 yards with 22 touchdowns with a 68.3 completion rate. RB’s Bell & Blount have combined for 201 carries for 834 yards with Bell scoring 1 TD and Blount scoring 2 touchdowns. Receivers Brown & Bell had 118 catches for 1,429 yards combined with Brown scoring 8 touchdowns and Bell scoring 2 touchdowns. Pittsburgh has been scoring an average of 27.6 points per game, while allowing the opponents 24.3 points per game. They are 4-1 at home and 2-2 on the road.

Leading the Jets offensively are QB’s Smith who had thrown for 1,370 yards and 7 touchdowns with 10 interceptions, and backup QB Vick who has thrown for 396 yards, with 1 TD and 1 interception. RB’s Ivory & Johnson have 187 combined carries for 824 yards with Ivory scoring 5 touchdowns and Johnson scoring 1 TD. Receivers Decker & Amaro have 72 combined receptions for 711 yards with Decker scoring 4 touchdowns and Amaro scoring 1 TD. The Jets have scored an average of 17.1 points per game, while allowing opponents some 28 points per game, and are 1-4 at home and 0-4 on the road.

The team record for the Steelers is 6-3 SU (straight up) and 5-4 ATS (against the spread), with a 3 game win streak, and in last 5 games are 4-1 ATS and 4-1 SU. In their last 7 games the total has went over, while on the road in their last 7 games they are 5-2 ATS.
