Football betting heavily favors the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday as they host the St. Louis Rams.
If not for a great Brett Favre pass last week, the 49ers would be unbeaten on the season. They are still 2-1 though and should have little NFL betting trouble against a Rams team that has lost 13 in a row going back to last season.
Football betting has the 49ers as 9.5 point favorites against the Rams with a total of 37.5. The NFL betting number could be higher but the 49ers will have to do without star running back Frank Gore who has a strained right ankle. That means rookie Glen Coffee will get a lot of work on Sunday in this football betting game. Coffee wasn’t very good last week in relief of Gore and overall the offense was poor, especially on third downs. "We expect much better of ourselves as a team," Coffee said. "That should never happen no matter the circumstances of the game. It’s definitely something we won’t let happen again, because it’s embarrassing for our offense."
St. Louis has the longest losing streak in the NFL since Detroit won last week. The Rams have started the season 0-4 the last two years and look headed that way again in football betting.
The Rams have injuries of their own that will impact NFL betting. They are without quarterback Marc Bulger and wide receiver Laurent Robinson. The team might actually be better off without Bulger who is injury prone. Kyle Boller is expected to get the start for St. Louis.
The 49ers have won six of the last eight matchups against the Rams as football betting stats show. St. Louis doesn’t have many positive NFL betting trends as they are 9-4 in football betting in their last 13 games in October, but are 7-15 ATS in their last 22 games as an underdog, 8-20 in football betting in their last 28 vs. the NFC West, and 2-6 vs. the football betting number in their last 8 meetings in San Francisco.
On the other side there are a lot of reasons to like San Francisco in football betting. The 49ers are 6-1-1 in football betting in their last 8 games overall. The 49ers are 4-1 in football betting in their last 5 vs. the NFC West. The one concern is that San Francisco is 9-19-2 ATS in their last 30 games as a football betting favorite.
