Granted, it was only preseason, but Seattle and the Chargers failed to pay last weekend. Along the same lines their bet on NFL performances were mixed at best. In this situation it stands to figure they’ll seek improvement on Saturday. So too will they still experiment and evaluate. The outcome may not matter but progression is expected. For example, the Charger defense needs to tighten up in the fourth quarter. While the dreadful Seattle offense needs a jumpstart. Likewise, both clubs will want to see various position battles sort out. Next up is Seattle and LA on Saturday night!

Seattle Seahawks
Seattle opened preseason with a 19-17 home loss to Indianapolis. Extending the result was a poor bet on NFL performance by the Seahawks. In particular Seattle was outgained 265-195. Additionally, the Colts held an 18-12 first down advantage. The outcome was also deceptive. Seattle scored a late defensive touchdown on a fumble recovery. Otherwise the game was a dud for coach Pete Carroll’s crew. At the onset Seattle struggled to run the ball. Overall, they rushed for just 87 yards on 22 carries. Against the negativity was quarterback Russell Wilson. He was 4-5 for 43 yards passing with a touchdown.
Los Angeles Chargers
Meanwhile LA blew a 17-14 fourth quarter lead at Arizona. The Cardinals scored game’s final ten points to win 24-17. At the same time the Chargers outgained Arizona 387-174. Supplementing that was their 23-11 first down edge. While LA racked up yards it was offsets by four turnovers. Another Charger positive was holding the Cardinals to 0-11 on third down conversions. Receiver Geremy Davis impressed with four catches for 88 yards and a touchdown. LA quarterback Geno Smith was 14-23 for 218 yards and a TD.
Stats to Consider
Overall the Chargers were fare more impressive than Seattle. In the same way perceptions can change quickly in preseason. Seattle has been a literal cash cow in preseason road games. In particular they are 16-4 vs. the line in that role. Six of their last nine road exhibitions also went under the total. Conversely the Chargers have operated in the red with home preseason games. LA has paid in just eight of their last 19 in that role. Six of their last eight home preseason games went under the total.
Team vs. Team
Seattle has dominated this preseason sports betting series with the Chargers. To show the Seahawks have paid in nine of their last 11 exhibitions with LA. Four of those last five also went over the total. Specifically, the Seahawks have also excelled in road preseason games with the Chargers. In fact, Seattle is 6-1 vs. the line in away exhibitions with the Chargers. Three of those last four also went over the total.
Matchup to Watch
In spite of last week Saturday bodes well for Seattle. Indeed, the Bet on NFL Trends all point towards a Seattle bounce back. By contrast the Chargers are in their worst exhibition role here.
