Saints Meet Resurgent Cowboys in Potential NFL Betting Playoff Preview

New Orleans Saints vs. Dallas Cowboys

At the beginning of the season Dallas struggled, especially on the offensive side of the line.  However, the Cowboys have finally found their NFL betting stride.  In fact, America’s Team is now in first place in the NFC East.  By contrast the New Orleans Saints have been on fire ever since their opening day loss to Tampa Bay.  Most important of all the Saints have emerged as the most profitable team in the NFL board.  Account of Drew Brees is the always lethal offense.  At the same time the Saints now have an improved and serviceable defense.

New Orleans Saints

New Orleans has covered the spread in nine consecutive games.  On the whole the Saints are 10-1 straight up, 9-2 vs. the odds. And 5-6 under the total.  Last week the Saints got the money in a 31-17 home win over Atlanta.  New Orleans is the top scoring team in the NFL.  Along the same lines their defense is vastly improved to rank 15th.  While not dominant its good enough to complement their explosive point scoring machine.  Consider Brees’ rating of 127.3 with 29 touchdowns and just two interceptions.  Michael Thomas already has 1000 yards receiving.

Dallas Cowboys

Resurgent Dallas is 6-5 both straight up and with the line.  And the Cowboys have gone under the total six times.  Fashion the Dallas streak of three straight wins and covers heading into this matchup.  Last week the Cowboys paid in a 31-23 home win over Washington.  Not withstanding the NFL’s 25th ranked offense is a defense that ranks third best for points allowed.  However, quarterback Dak Prescott has shown improvement.  In fact, he now has a 93.2 rating with 13 touchdowns and five interceptions.

Stats to Consider

New Orleans has been on a roll as an NFL betting road team recently.  In fact, the Saints have lost just five of their last 20 games vs. the odds in that situation.  Three of New Orleans last four away tilts have gone under the total.  Contrarily Dallas has been a subpar value at home.  For example, the Cowboys have covered in just seven of their last 17 games at AT&T Stadium.  Five of the Cowboys last seven home games have gone over the total.

Team vs. Team

New Orleans has had the upper hand in their Offshore betting series with the Cowboys.  Consider that the Saints have gotten the money in nine of their last 12 games against Dallas.  Four of the last five between these teams have gone over the total.  Balanced against that is a more competitive series between these teams at Dallas.  To show the Cowboys have covered two of their last three home games with the Saints.  And the last four games between these teams at AT&T Stadium have gone over the total.

Matchup to Watch

From this point the Dallas defense is an NFL betting matchup advantage.  Admittedly the Cowboys offense doesn’t rate high.  Yet it is improving.
