Saints Host Falcons in Thanksgiving Night Bet on NFL Rivalry

Atlanta Falcons vs. New Orleans Saints

Not that long ago the Atlanta Falcons were a team considered to be Super Bowl worthy.  On the whole they were on the brink of Super Sunday Glory but the last two years have seen their defense become a detriment.  As a matter of fact, the Falcons are now one of the worst teams to bet on NFL games with.  On the other hand, the New Orleans Saints are enjoying a resurgence that was unexpected for 2018.  Most important of all the Saints are one of the most profitable teams on the board.  And they lead the NFC South.

New Orleans Saints

New Orleans is 9-1 straight up and 8-2 vs. the odds with a 5-5 split on totals.  Last week the Saints annihilated defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia 48-7 as seven-point chalks.  Of course, the Drew Brees offense ranks first in the NFL for scoring.  That is of no surprise.  But what does surprise everyone is a respectable defense that ranks 16th in the NFL.  While not at all dominant its more than good enough as a complement to the offense.   Extending their success is Brees 126.9 rating with 25 touchdowns and only one interception.

Atlanta Falcons

Atlanta has fallen to 4-6 straight up, 3-7 vs. the line, and 6-4 over the total.  Last Sunday the Falcons lost at home to Dallas 22-19.  Fashion that the loss snapped a three-game winning streak.  Of major concern is a defense that ranks 29th both overall and for points allowed.  Quarterback Matt Ryan is basically all the Falcons have.  Ryan has a 111.5 rating with 22 touchdowns and four interceptions.

Stats to Consider

Atlanta has dropped as a Bet on NFL value getting points on the road.  Consider that the Falcons have covered just two of their last six in that situation.  Four of their six as away pups have gone under the total.  Counter to that is how New Orleans is in the black as a home favorite.  In fact, the Saints have covered seven of their last 12 as home favorites.  Six of their last nine laying points at Mercedes Benz Superdome have gone over the total.

Team vs. Team

New Orleans has had the offshore bookmaker edge in their series with Atlanta.  For example, the Saints have paid in five of their last seven with the Falcons.  Three of the last five between these teams have gone over the total.  Likewise, New Orleans has had the advantage at home against Atlanta.  The Saints have covered in five of their last seven over the Falcons at Mercedes Benz Superdome.  Just one of the last five between these teams at New Orleans have gone over the total.

Matchup to Watch

In spite of the big number its hard to make a case for Atlanta here.  In the first place their defense is a true Bet on NFL matchup liability.  Secondly Ryan is having to carry all of the burden.  In the same way Brees should light it up early and often.
