Rookies Getting Attention in Minicamps – NFL betting

Rookies Getting Attention in Minicamps – NFL betting. In minicamps and training camps the rookies get a lot of attention and that is definitely the case as the 2009 regular season approaches. High profile players like Detroit’s Matthew Stafford and New York’s Mark Sanchez are under the microscope.  They are just two of the players that should be watched closely as teams get ready for the regular season.

There is no question that NFL betting odds in 2009 will be influenced by rookies.  Last year it was Matt Ryan and Joe Flacco leading the Falcons and Ravens to surprising seasons in terms of NFL betting.  Who will it be in 2009?  The Lions are expecting Stafford to win the starting quarterback job sooner rather than later and Stafford could impact the NFL odds on a weekly basis.  The same can be said about the Jets’ Mark Sanchez.  The difference is that Sanchez has some talented players around him while Detroit has Calvin Johnson and that is about it.

The quarterback that might get even more attention and impact the NFL odds greatly is Tampa Bay’s rookie Josh Freeman.  Most people didn’t think Freeman was ready to become a starting quarterback in the NFL but new Tampa head coach Raheem Morris has basically said Freeman is his guy.  If Freeman gets the starting nod over Luke McCown and Byron Leftwich he could impact NFL betting lines this season.

A player who could impact the NFL betting lines that is not a quarterback is Denver running back Knowshon Moreno.  The Broncos are going to need a running game now that Jay Cutler is gone and Moreno could be the answer.  Another rookie running back that could make an impact in NFL betting this season is Indianapolis’ Donald Brown.  He could be sharing time with Joseph Addai this season considering how often Addai gets hurt.  With the Colts having an offense that scores points, Brown could impact the odds at the online sportsbook in 2009.

One rookie receiver that is going to be scrutinized is Oakland’s Darrius Heyward-Bey.  He was drafted ahead of Michael Crabtree so the pressure is on him to produce.  The pressure is also on Minnesota’s Percy Harvin who needs to prove he can play and take the pressure off of Adrian Peterson.

Rookies can impact the odds every season at the sportsbook and these players are some of the players to keep an eye on.
