Roaring Rams to Enter Betting on NFL Lion’s Den Sunday!

Los Angeles Rams vs. Detroit Lions

Following their epic Monday night win over Kansas City, the Rams have caught everyone’s attention.  The 54-51 shootout win was a prime example of new era of fast break football.  In the same way Los Angeles is running away with the NFC West like Secretariat at the Belmont.  Detroit has the opposite problem in that they are the same old Betting on NFL story.  Certainly, first year head coach Matt Patricia has proven to be no Bill Belichick.  But that hardly makes the former New England assistant unique in Lion lore.  Detroit remains a coaching graveyard.

Los Angeles Rams

Despite their rampaging success straight up the Rams are become massive overlays on the wagering board.  LA is 10-1 straight up but just 4-6-1 vs. the odds with 6-5-1 over the total.  Additionally, the Rams have failed to get the money in their last four games.  On the whole Los Angeles has covered just one in their last nine games.  Summing up the Rams are drawing way too much public Betting on NFL Action.  Metrics wise LA ranks second in the NFL for offense but 21st for points allowed.

Detroit Lions

Detroit’s lone highlight was a Sunday Night Football win over New England two months ago.  Not withstanding that upset is a record of 4-7 straight up and 6-5 vs. the odds.  And the Lions have gone over the Online wagering total six times this season.  Thanksgiving was a real turkey for Detroit as they lost to visiting Chicago 23-16.  Consequently, the Lions have covered just one of their last five games.  Equally important are NFL ranks of 23rd for offense and 24th for points allowed.

Stats to Consider

The Rams have been a subpar betting value as road chalks recently.  For one thing Los Angeles has covered just six of their last 15 laying points on the road.  And they have gone over the total in six of their last nine in that role.  Balanced against that is Detroit’s weak betting value as a home dog.  The Lions have failed to pay in four of their last six getting points at Ford Field.  And four of their last six in that situation have gone under the total.

Team vs. Team

Head to head Los Angeles has held the edge over Detroit.  To show the Rams have paid in four of their last six against the Lions.  Five of the last seven meetings in this series have gone over the total.  But at Ford Field the Lions have had the slight advantage.  Detroit has covered two of their last three home tilts with the Rams.  And all three of those games went over the total.

Matchup to Watch

Detroit makes for a strong Betting on NFL contrarian play.  It follows that if they can beat the Patriots, they can pay against LA.  As has been noted the Rams are bleeding red ink despite their success.
