Ravens Hand Steelers First Loss vs. NFL Odds

The Pittsburgh Steelers are no longer unbeaten straight up or against the NFL odds. The Baltimore Ravens scored late and beat the Steelers 17-14. It was a huge win for the Ravens against the NFL betting odds as they tied Pittsburgh for first place in the AFC North.

Pittsburgh’s Offense Fails – The Steelers didn’t want to admit it but they missed quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.  The Pittsburgh defense was excellent but when the Steelers needed to run out the clock against Baltimore they couldn’t get the job done. Charlie Batch is a backup quarterback and the Steelers should feel good about going 3-1 without Big Ben. They will get him back in two weeks as the Steelers have a bye this week.  Batch was just 12 of 21 for 141 yards and he also threw an interception. The Ravens and Steelers played another tight, low-scoring game. It was the fifth straight game between the two that was decided by four points or less.

Ravens a Super Bowl Contender – There is no doubt that Baltimore is a Super Bowl contender. They are one of the favorites in NFL odds at the Sbg global sportsbook. The Ravens proved that they can score against a great defense when it matters the most. Quarterback Joe Flacco threw an 18-yard TD pass to T.J. Houshmandzadeh with 32 seconds left to give the Ravens the win. Pittsburgh had taken a 14-10 lead midway through the fourth quarter and they were in good shape to win but could not get a first down late in the game and had to punt the ball away.  Flacco hit some big passes and got his first win ever at Pittsburgh. It was only the second time in 11 games that the Ravens have won at Pittsburgh.  Flacco was 24 of 37 for 256 yards and he definitely outplayed Pittsburgh quarterback Charlie Batch.

Up Next – The Ravens are heavily favored at home this week in NFL betting odds as they host the Denver Broncos. It is a tough spot for the Ravens as it is a letdown spot after the big win over the Steelers.  The Steelers have the week off as they have a bye. They will get quarterback Ben Roethlisberger back for their next game against the Cleveland Browns.
