Rams Showing Complete Look as NFL Bets Favorites vs. Chargers

Los Angeles Chargers vs. Los Angeles Rams

In view of the Rams surprise playoff appearance last year doubts remained about their ability to repeat.   To begin with gamblers and fans are not used to LA having consistent success with NFL bets. Admittedly the Rams caught everyone off guard with the success last year.  Cause by their hot start to this season and handicappers are beginning to believe.  By contrast the Chargers are a difficult read.  Of course, quarterback Philip Rivers makes them a threat most weeks.  By contrast the defense is less than stellar and offsets much of Rivers work.  In brief they are consistently inconsistent.

Los Angeles Chargers

The Chargers are 1-1 both straight up and with NFL bets.  Owing to a 31-20 payout at Buffalo last week did LA get back on track.  In the same way their week one 38-28 loss to the Chiefs set off plenty of alarms.  Rivers has a good 119.6 quarterback rating with six touchdowns and one interception.  Further, running back Austin Ekeler is averaging 7.3 yards per carry.   While LA ranks eight for scoring offense their defense ranks 26th for points allowed.  Following three straight seasons out of the playoffs, skepticism is fair.

Los Angeles Rams

Balanced against that is the strong start by the Rams.  Starting with last week’s 34-0 pasting of Arizona LA has looked “Super.”  Overall the Rams are 2-0 both straight up and against the spread.  Both of their games went under the total.  Along the same lines LA ranks fifth for scoring offense and first for scoring defense.  Certainly, the Rams are loaded with top shelf talent.  Quarterback Jared Goff has a 102.5 QB rating with three touchdowns and one interception.  In like manner Todd Gurley has run for 150 yards and three touchdowns.

Stats to Consider

The Chargers have been a better than expected sportsbook road dog.  To be exact they have lost just two of their last six vs. the odds in that role.  Additionally, six of their last seven as road pups went under the total.  Balanced against that are the Rams inconsistent numbers as home chalks.  LA has paid in four of their last seven laying points at Memorial Coliseum.  And just two of their last nine as home favorites went over the total.

Team vs. Team

Head to head the Rams have covered their last two against the Chargers.  Further, seven of the last eight between these teams went over the total.  Since moving back to Los Angeles from St. Louis the Rams have thrived.  In the same way it reminds older fans of when they were one of the NFL’s most dominant teams at LA Coliseum.  In comparison to their dreadful end in St. Louis the Rams with Goff have a bright future.

Matchup to Watch

To begin with the Rams defense is a big NFL bets matchup advantage.  Above all they have begun to show reliability as a home chalk.  In comparison the Chargers lack the defense to sustain much of a chance.
