Consider the desperate Las Vegas Raiders gave newly signed quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo a new NFL odds weapon by drafting tight end Michael Mayer. The Notre Dame product was targeted more than any other tight end in the country in 2022. Also, Mayer earned an FBS-best 92.5 PFF grade. Mayer earned an 80.0-plus run-blocking grade and could be the rare tight end contributing early in his NFL career. Of course, he was producing immediately in college. Head coach Josh McDaniels job depends on Jimmy G and Mayer jumpstarting a stagnant franchise.

The NFL schedule makers did Las Vegas very few online wagering favors. To show, the Raiders open the season with three of their first four games on the road and two of their last three games away from home. Consider the weak state of the Raiders’ cornerback room before the draft. Bennett has a legitimate opportunity to compete for snaps on the outside right out of the gate. Up front, Tyree Wilson joins the tenacious Maxx Crosby and veteran Chandler Jones. In turn, Jones needs to bounce back in 2023.
