NFL betting has the Chicago Bears underdogs at home on Sunday as they host the defending Super Bowl champion Pittsburgh Steelers.
Both teams are coming off close games last week in pro football betting but the difference is that the Steelers won their game while Chicago lost.
NFL betting has both teams dealing with major injuries. The Steelers will be without Troy Polamalu while the Bears have lost Brian Urlacher for the rest of the season. Polamalu tore the medial collateral ligament in his left knee but should return in a few weeks while Urlacher is out for the season with a dislocated wrist. "Injuries are a part of football," Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said. "I’m sure they’d prefer to play with Urlacher. They’re going to have to find ways to be successful without him; similarly, we’d prefer to play with Troy. … That’s the story of the National Football League." The Bears will look at Hunter Hillenmeyer to fill in for Urlacher in this NFL betting matchup while Tyrone Carter will fill in at strong safety for Pittsburgh.
Chicago will be looking to improve their offense in this NFL betting game. Quarterback Jay Cutler threw four interceptions last week in the loss to Green Bay. "Jay has to play better and he will play better," coach Lovie Smith said. "Some of the things he did in the game, we can’t live with. His first preseason game he didn’t play as well as he did his second preseason game. He’ll get back off (to) a good start against the Steelers this week."
On the other side in NFL betting, Pittsburgh quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was very impressive in the win over Tennessee. He threw for 363 yards in the win.
The last time the Steelers and Bears met in NFL betting was in 2005 as the Steelers won 21-9. Pittsburgh has not been to Soldier Field since 1995 in NFL betting. They won that game 37-34 in overtime. That is the only win they have ever had in Chicago in 11 NFL betting tries.
Pittsburgh has been pretty good on the road in NFL betting. They are 5-2 vs. the pro football betting number in their last 7 road games. Pittsburgh does not play well in Week 2 in NFL betting though as they are 2-7-1 vs. the pro football betting odds in their last 10 games in Week 2. Chicago is not very good in September in NFL betting as they are 2-7-1 in pro football betting in their last 10 games in September.
