The Eagles have emerged as one of the elite NFL future Odds organizations. Following a strong offseason, more success is coming in 2025. Still, there weren’t any major splashes like the addition of 2024 NFL Offensive Player of the Year running back Saquon Barkley. Last season, Barkley’s arrival made a splash. Still, Philadelphia did a strong job of retaining a solid number of its talent from its championship team. A repeat Super Bowl run would come as no surprise. The Philadelphia Eagles are coming off their second Super Bowl championship and third Super Bowl appearance since the 2017 season.

Specifically, Barkley (two years, $41.2 million — wasn’t set to hit free agency) and right tackle Lane Johnson (one year, $25 million) signed extensions. All-Pro linebacker Zack Baun was retained on a three-year, $51 million deal with $34 million guaranteed. Hence, that is keeping probably the most irreplaceable defensive free agent the team had. Philadelphia is going extremely young at corner, safety, and defensive line. However, that’s likely to happen for a successful team that compensates many of its offshore bookmaker stars well.
Philadelphia also pulled another 2025 NFL futures rabbit out of the hat in the first round of the draft. In turn, by somehow securing the top inside linebacker prospect in the class in Alabama’s Jihaad Campbell. General manager Howie Roseman is coming up aces again.
Philadelphia Eagles Team History
Until the late 1970s, the Eagles were out more often than they were in. However, head coach Dick Vermeil changed that with the addition of Ron Jaworski, Harold Carmichael, and a tough Eagles team. The 1980 Eagles won the NFC title but were dominated in a Super Bowl loss against the Oakland Raiders.
Head coach Buddy Ryan led the Eagles to three consecutive playoff appearances from 1988 to 1990, but the team could never reach the Super Bowl. Specifically, those Eagles teams were known for bone-cracking defenses and quarterback Randall Cunningham.
Since 2000, the Eagles have been one of the NFL’s most consistent winners. Philadelphia has missed the NFL Playoffs just eight times. Head coach Andy Reid began this era of success. Reid led the Eagles to the 2004 NFC title, but Philadelphia lost the Super Bowl to the New England Patriots. Doug Pederson was the head coach who finally got the Eagles their elusive Super Bowl championship in 2017 with a 13-3 campaign.
Under HC Nick Sirianni, the Eagles made the Super Bowl in 2022 and 2024. Finally, they destroyed the Kansas City Chiefs in their second Super Bowl matchup in three years.
