Patriots NFL betting favorites despite Brady’s suspension

Some teams like the New York Jets saw their NFL betting odds to win Super Bowl LI improve in the wake of Tom Brady’s reinstated four-game suspension. However, the New England Patriots remain the odds-on sportsbook favorites to dethrone the Denver Broncos.

The NFL originally announced in 2015 that it would suspend Brady for four games of the 2015 regular season – it had something to do with his deflated balls. On September 3, 2015, Judge Richard M. Berman vacated the suspension due to legal deficiencies. On April 25, 2016, the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals reinstated Brady’s four-game suspension for the 2016 regular season.

Interestingly, the Patriots’ NFL betting odds improved, if ever so slightly, from March, in spite of the fact that Brady’s suspension was reinstated in April, as well as unimpressive draft picks. Ideally, this would reconcile Brady with the idea that he is going to have to sit out the first four games of the regular season. Even serial killers on death row think there have been way too many appeals in this case. On the other side of the coin, the San Francisco 49ers, Tennessee Titans, and Cleveland Browns have the worst sportsbook odds of winning the next championship game (insert obligatory Leicester City reference here).

And now for something completely different, here are a couple of ways in which Tom Brady could attempt to bypass his suspension, should all other legal means fail. Number one; he could sport a handlebar mustache and pose as Snidely Brady – Tom’s slightly more evil twin. I would leave it up to him whether to grow an actual mustache or wear a fake one. Number two; he could either build or fund the building of a time machine so he can travel back in time and prevent his past self from getting caught – I’m not going to pretend having a second chance at not cheating would even be an alternative.

Additionally, here are a couple of things Brady could do to cope with the suspension/do with his newly found free time/regain fans’ good will (outside of New England, that is). He could start hanging out with Lance Armstrong, since they have so much in common – they both like riding bikes, among other things. He could fly to Pakistan and become the personal bodyguard of the Afghan boy whose life Lionel Messi has so recklessly endangered. Or he could lock himself in his bedroom with wife Gisele Budnchen and engage in a marathon session of, ahem, Netflix. All of these things could Tom Brady do without for a second damaging the New England Patriots NFL betting odds of winning Super Bowl LI next February.
