Indianapolis Colts vs. New England Patriots

Patriots Large NFL Betting Favorite Following Decimation of Miami

October 29th, 2018 NFL Football, Offshore Betting

Following a two game NFL betting losing streak some were foolish enough to write off New England.  In fact, many experts were calling Miami the best team in the AFC East.  By reason of the Patriots 38-7 home payoff over the Dolphins last Sunday that ignorance has been put to rest.  Extending the Patriots reputation was their ability to prove who rules the division when pressed.  Miami was slapped around as the pretender that they are.  Now Indianapolis will come calling to Gillette Stadium.  In the same way the rebuilding Colts are given little chance.

Indianapolis Colts

Indianapolis has an NFL betting record of 1-3 straight up with two covers. Also, two of their four games have gone over the total.  On the whole there are not many positives that can be found regarding the Colts.  Overall on offense they rank 24th in the NFL.  In addition, they rank 19th in the league defensively.  Of major concern is that 2012 top NFL draft pick Andrew Luck is wasting his career with Indianapolis.  Luck has held his own with a 92.7 quarterback rating.  However, he has little in the way of a supporting cast.

New England Patriots

New England is 2-2 straight up with two offshore betting payouts.  Three of the Patriots games have gone under the total.  Following last week’s blowout of Miami, the Pats again have a championship look.  Starting with Tom Brady’s 274 yards passing and three touchdowns.  And Sony Michel added 112 yards rushing with a score.  James White caught ten passes with a TD against Miami.  Most important of all the maligned Patriots defense completely manhandled Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill.  New England had a 36:22 time of possession advantage over Miami.

Stats to Consider

Admittedly the Colts have been a better than expected road dog lately.  For example, Indianapolis has paid in five of their last seven in that role.  Additionally, the Colts have gone under the total six straight times as away pups.  Balanced against that is New England’s phenomenal betting value at Gillette Stadium.  To illuminate the Pats have paid in eight of their last nine in that situation.  Six of their last nine as home chalks went under the total.  Of major concern is the Colts 3-5 mark vs. the line as double-digit road dogs.

Team vs. Team

Summing up the Patriots have had a strong advantage in this head to head matchup.  Consider New England’s mark of 6-3 vs. the line in games with Indianapolis.  Seven of the last eight in this series have gone over the total.   Concurrently the Pats have paid in three straight home games with the Colts.  Four of the last five between these teams at Gillette Stadium have gone over the total.

Matchup to Watch

Of major concern in this NFL betting matchup is roster depth and current form.  It follows that New England has the huge advantage over the Colts.  For that reason, only the Patriots themselves can lose this.

Colts vs. Patriots NFL Betting Odds Pick

As mentioned earlier the Patriots pay like a clock at home and against Indianapolis.
