Panthers put Delhomme on IR NFL Betting Lines

December 1, 2010 NFL Football

NFL betting lines will not be impacted by Carolina quarterback Jake Delhomme any more this season as the Panthers put him in injured reserve.

That move ends the worst season Delhomme has ever had and it could end his time with the Panthers. Football odds have the Panthers ending their season at home this week against New Orleans.

NFL betting lines this season on the Panthers with Delhomme at quarterback were not very pleasant. Delhomme was simply awful for most of the season and the Panthers really struggled versus the football odds. Delhomme was injured on November 29th in the loss to the Jets as he broke his knuckle but he played poorly before that happened. Matt Moore has taken over the quarterback job and has played better and impacted NFL betting lines more than Delhomme did. Now the NFL betting lines question becomes whether Delhomme comes back at all for the Panthers.

Delhomme imploded last year in the playoff lost to Arizona as he committed six turnovers as the Panthers lost to the Cardinals in NFL betting lines. Even though he was terrible, the Panthers felt they needed to sign Delhomme to a five-year deal with $13 million guaranteed. Even at the time, many who monitor NFL betting lines wondered what in the world the Panthers were thinking. Delhomme picked up where he left off and committed five turnovers in the season opening NFL betting lines loss to the Eagles. Just how bad has Delhomme been in NFL betting lines action? He has thrown 18 interceptions this season and only eight TD passes. He completed only 55.5 percent of his passes this NFL betting lines season. "The ’09 year, starting in January with the playoff game, for whatever reason it just hasn’t been good football-wise for me," Delhomme said. "Certainly you want to finish, you want to get back out and play, but some things are just not meant to be."

The Panthers owe Delhomme a lot of money so they may be stuck bringing him back next football odds season. Whether or not he comes back will be determined by what happens with the NFL salary cap next NFL betting lines year. "There is a lot a time before they have to worry about making decisions and things of that nature," Delhomme said. Carolina does not have a first round pick next football odds year so they really can’t target a franchise quarterback who can impact NFL betting lines.
